Michael Stein is a nationally renowned technology writer and Internet strategist who has spent two decades working with nonprofits, foundations, labor unions, and technology service providers. He is the author of three books and numerous articles about the Internet, including “The eNonprofit: A Guide to ASPs, Internet Services and Online Software” with John Kenyon in 2002. In 1997, he co-authored the groundbreaking book “Fundraising on the Internet: Recruiting and Renewing Donors Online,” with Nick Allen and Mal Warwick. Michael has provided strategic support to numerous organizations on Internet strategy covering tactics related to marketing, fundraising and advocacy. He focuses on email newsletters, Website content, blogs, and Internet vendor selection. Clients have included: Planned Parenthood Federation of America, United Nations Food Programme, SEIU, Packard Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, California Labor Federation, Donordigital, and Children Now. Michael has worked for several technology service providers in the not-for-profit marketplace, including Groundspring.org, Network For Good, IGC.org, GetActive Software, Orchid Suites, and Action Potential. Michael’s opinion and analysis have been featured in numerous media, including The New York Times, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, San Jose Mercury News, National Public Radio, Philanthropy Journal, Wired News, TechSoup.org, and The Nonprofit Quarterly.
