MobileActive's NDI and Pambazuka Win Recognition by Politics Online

Two organizations who are part of MobileActive.org have been recognized by Politics Online as two of the Top 10 Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics. This award seeks to "recognize the innovators and pioneers, the dreamers and doers who bring democracy online." And pioneers they are.

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Pambazuka News were both noted for their use of mobile phones in civic and human rights empowerment. Leaders from both NDI and Pambazuka were at the inaugural MobileActive.org conference in 2005, drinking the mobile 'coolaid.' We hope to see key leaders from NDI will speak at MobileActive07 in Brazil this November about their work using mobiles in ensuring impartial elections.

We have written extensively about Pambzuka's work on a human rights campaign a few years ago over at WorldChanging and about NDI's work on using election monitoring in Montenegro and Sierra Leone.
